The Story of Mushrooms
Our Story
At Planet Mushroom we believe that we need to go back to the beginning, where it all began, fungi. We hope to raise mushroom awareness. Bring mushrooms back into the kitchen. We are only beginning to learn about how mycelium networks play a crucial role in the biodiversity of the forest. Indeed, mushroom spores are everywhere in nature. We have studied, tested, and cataloged about 70,000 species of mushrooms out of 8,000,000. Mushrooms are prebiotic, boosting the microbiome’s beneficial bacteria, such as Acidophilus and Bifidobacterium, improving digestion and overall health.
Recent independent research shows that certain varieties of mushrooms are also our best dietary sources for potent antioxidants, such as sulfur-rich ergothioneine, and the “major biological antioxidant,” glutathione.

Did you know we are distantly related to mushrooms?
It’s this reason we share in common the same pathogens. So in the interest of self, preservation, for the last 1.5 billion years’ mycelia have developed the best antimicrobial, antibiotics and adaptogenic compounds in the form of, polysaccharide and triterpenes. These, life-saving antibodies promote well-being and yet, little is known about them. As a matter of-fact most of society is suffering from a fear of mushrooms, micophobia. This subject is only now entering mainstream schools of science. This is probably the remenance of the demonization of the village witch doctor, by the Judeo-Christian ideologues. These keepers of the forest knowledge consider mushroom as sentient or teachers that connect the Anthropos (humanity) to Sophia the wisdom goddess, Mother Earth.
. Yes, some mushrooms are extremely poisonous and some are mistaken as poisonous like DMT and psilocybin. Did you know studies conducted at Stamford University conclude that one large dose can cure chronic depression and reduce, if not end anxiety related to terminal conditions? Other studies on how psilocybin is working as a panacea on psychopathy demonstrated by psychiatric patients and career criminals. This works, because these encounters are our true spiritual experiences, they resinate with our higher self, our sole. Only Sophia can heal the Anima. A remedy for the Anthropos.
Another great theory is that during the primal stage of humanities evolution the one food source that was always available and on many occasions it happened to be hallucinogenic and it is these experience that lifted our intellect to new heights eventually becoming an integral part of the education of social collective via the local Shaman. All living things are in a symbiotic relationship with mushrooms. Interestingly, when we walk through the woods our very presents in the way of foot-steps, promote the growth and expansion of mycelial network beneath the ground.
Also known as Fungi, mushrooms aren’t just part of the soil they are the soil. Under every foot step there is hundreds of kelomiters of mycelial threads. Another iteresting fact is that mycelium can hold up to 30 thousand time its mass. They are known as the grand molecular disassemblers of nature. This returning of the basic building blocks of nature back into the soil facilitates the biodiversity and promotes a healthy forestation teaming with life. And what even more interesting is the discovery of a far more advanced function known as the original WWW or the “wood wide web” as coined by Paul Stamets. They facilitate a multi-directional transfer of nutrients and molecular bio-information. This means mother-nature had the internet well before us and its wired up with mycelium threads. Another fascinating characteristic is the existence of bio-luminescent fungi, mushrooms that glow in the dark. During daylight, these mushrooms look plane but by night their glow is mesmerizing. There are around 70 luminescent species known, most of which belong to the Mycena genus.
